ACE.SimRacers.online · last updated 2026-08-05
This notice explains how ACE.SimRacers.online handles your personal data when you race on our Assetto Corsa EVO servers and use our stats and chat. You can reach ACE.SimRacers.online through its website or Discord.
Who is responsible
ACE.SimRacers.online is the data controller for the data it processes about its own drivers. ACE.SimRacers.online takes part in the SimRacers network, a shared platform of independent racing communities. Each connected community is its own separate controller for its own drivers.
What we collect
- Your Steam ID, your driver name or nickname, your Steam avatar, and your nationality if your Steam profile provides it.
- Your racing data: race results and the stats derived from them — ELO rating, Safety Rating, lap times, incidents and similar.
- Your entries: race and championship sign-ups, and track votes you cast.
- Optional social links you add yourself (Twitch, YouTube). If you add one, we check publicly whether that channel is live so the page can show a “live now” badge.
- Chat: the messages you send, and — briefly, for moderation — the IP address and country you connect from.
- Presence: while you have our stats page open, the fact that you are online. This is held in memory only and disappears when you close the page.
What is public
Our statistics pages are public by design, and that is worth stating plainly rather than leaving you to discover it. Without signing in, anyone on the internet can read driver profiles, rankings, lap times and results, the chat history, and who is online right now.
Two things are deliberately kept back:
- Steam IDs in the online list go only to visitors who have proved who they are. Everyone else sees names and avatars, so the roster still reads as a list of people but cannot be harvested as a live account-to-server map.
- Chat sender IP addresses and countries are visible to community admins only — never to other visitors.
Writing is not open in the same way as reading: posting in chat, reacting, editing and private messages all require a proved Steam account or an admin session.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
We process this data on the basis of legitimate interest (GDPR Art 6(1)(f)):
- To run our servers, stats pages and rankings, and to share racing results and ratings across the SimRacers network so drivers can be compared community-to-community. Competitive results appearing in rankings is something drivers reasonably expect — and you can object at any time (see your rights below).
- To keep chat usable and moderated (this is why a sender's IP is briefly recorded).
Who we share it with
Your racing results and ratings are shared to the SimRacers network and are visible to the other connected communities. The network is coordinated by a central hub hosted in Sweden (EU/EEA), and is accessible worldwide. What travels to the hub is your driver identity and your career stats — not your chat messages and not your IP address. The exceptions are the shared network channels and the network admin room, which are visible to the other communities by design, because that is what they are for. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Chat IP address and country are automatically removed after 90 days; the message text remains.
- Chat history is capped at roughly the most recent 200 messages per channel — older messages fall off on their own.
- Presence is not stored at all.
- Your racing stats are kept until you delete them or delete yourself from the network (see below).
Your rights — and how to use them
Sign in with Steam on your driver profile, where you can exercise these directly:
- Access & portability — “Download my data” gives you a machine-readable JSON copy of everything we hold about you.
- Erasure — “Delete me from the whole network” removes you here, at the hub and at every connected community. Communities that happened to be offline at that moment apply it when they reconnect, for up to 90 days afterwards. You can also wipe just your stats on this community.
- Object / opt out — opt out of network sharing; your stats then stay only on this community's pages. Opting out does not block a later erasure request — the network handles “delete me” even for drivers it has no record of.
- Rectification — edit your display name on your profile.
Erasing your racing data wipes it here rather than hiding it, so that part cannot be undone. An admin can put you back on the network, but your wiped results do not come back with you.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
How we protect it
- Everything this community sends to the network hub travels over HTTPS, with the community's key in a request header rather than in a web address; the admin panel only ever displays that key masked.
- Files holding credentials on our server are readable only by the account running the Manager.
- A chat connection is accepted only against a short-lived, single-use ticket issued over HTTPS first, and writing is rate-limited.
- Anything a driver types is escaped before it is shown to anyone else.
- Erasure requests reaching the hub are authorised, rate-limited and logged, so no single community can sweep the network.
International transfers
The network hub is hosted in Sweden, within the EU/EEA. Because the network is open to communities worldwide, and because our stats pages are public, your shared racing data may be viewed from outside the EU/EEA.
